KIRKLAND, Quebec, September 21, 2024 \u2013<\/strong> On September 21st<\/sup>, over 730 participants took part in the eighth annual Course pour la Compassion powered by Pfizer<\/em>, a walk\/run benefiting the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. A record-breaking $307,500 net was raised, which will be used to provide quality palliative care to patients and support for their families.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Course allows participants of all ages and abilities to participate in 1K or 5K walk\/run and create personal crowdfunding pages to raise funds for the Residence. \u201cI love the inclusiveness of this event and express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who participated. Today also marked an important milestone as this event has now passed the 1-million-dollar mark in cumulative funds raised since the beginning!\" remarked Dale Weil, Executive Director of the Residence. \"Our supporters, dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, and devoted colleagues are the cornerstone of our ability to sustain the delivery of the high-quality palliative care our patients and their families so deserve. Maya Johnson, CTV News Montreal anchor, graciously hosted the event. Top fundraisers were announced, and an energizing warm-up was animated. Also present were Jaqueline Simoneau, 3-time Olympian in Artistic Swimming and Gold-medalist in the 2024 World Aquatic Championship and David Arsenault, former national taekwondo champion and founder of Champions pour la Vie - Champions for Life, and Steve O\u2019Brien, former National Athlete, track and field.\n

About the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence<\/strong>
The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence is an independent, non-profit organization that provides services free of charge to patients and their families. The Residence relies on community support and fundraising activities to raise more than $4.5 million each year, which complements our government subsidy. With its 23 beds, the Residence is the largest free-standing palliative care facility in Canada and is recognized as a leader in its field. Since our inception, we have provided end of life care for over 5,500 patients and 20,000 family members.
