This presentation will share the results of a project exploring the factors that support staying and dying at home. The study is based on an analysis of administrative data from the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des soins palliatifs du Grand Montr\u00e9al, as well as interviews with individuals receiving palliative and end-of-life care, family caregivers, healthcare professionals, and managers.<\/p>

The findings highlight several key factors, including access to respite care, timely access to home support teams, high-quality nursing and personal care, a palliative care approach, the presence of family caregivers, and respect for the wishes of the person receiving care.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

This presentation aims to raise awareness among professionals working in palliative care about the repeated experiences of grief they are exposed to in their daily practice. While caregivers are trained to support patients and their loved ones through the many losses they endure, the effects of these grief experiences on their own well-being often go unrecognized. The concepts of compassion fatigue and moral injury will be explored to better understand and acknowledge the impact of repetitive grief on healthcare providers.
