KIRKLAND, Quebec, September 23, 2023 – On September 23rd, more than 680 participants took part in the seventh annual Course pour la Compassion powered by Pfizer, a walk/run benefiting the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. A record-breaking $291,725 net was raised, which will be directed to providing quality palliative care to patients and support for their families.

The Course allows participants of all ages and abilities to participate in a 1K or 5K walk/run and create personal crowdfunding pages to raise funds for the Residence. “I express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who joined us in this event. Today is a great testament to the remarkable achievements possible when our community comes together," remarked Dale Weil, Executive Director of the Residence. "Our supporters, dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, and devoted colleagues are the cornerstone of our ability to sustain the delivery of the high-quality palliative care our patients and their families so deserve. We cannot thank them enough," added Dale.

Maya Johnson, CTV News Montreal anchor, graciously hosted the event. Top fundraisers were announced, and Olympic diver Alexandre Despatie animated an energizing warm-up before the initial race kicked off at 9:00 a.m. Major sponsors of the event included Pfizer Canada, the City of Pointe-Claire, Charles River Laboratories Inc., Groupe Brissette, Uniprix and Kubota Montréal.
About the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence
The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence is an independent, non-profit organization that provides services free of charge to patients and their families. The Residence relies on community support and fundraising activities to raise more than $4.5 million each year, which complements our government subsidy. With its 23 beds, the Residence is the largest free-standing palliative care facility in Canada and is recognized as a leader in its field. Since our inception, we have provided end of life care for over 5,500 patients and 20,000 family members.
