About the Foundation
Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good.
It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life.
Philanthropy is the cornerstone of the Residence’s existence, now and in the years ahead. Thanks to the generosity of our communities, we can provide extraordinary care to our patients and their families at one of the most vulnerable times of life. The funds received translate into so many things but most importantly, into moments of magic every day.
The Residence provides its care and services free of charge to all patients and their families. Fully accredited by the Quebec government, we receive from the province one-third of our operational budget ($5.9 million) to support our day-to-day operations, our various programs and our clinical care. For the remaining two-thirds of the annual budget, just over $3.9 million, we rely on philanthropic gifts. These donations are critical to ensure the Residence’s financial security and our continued best-in-class care.
Raising and protecting funds
Incorporated in 2003, the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence Foundation has its own Board of Directors whose role is to raise the necessary funds to support the Residence. Its focus is to build a strong and sustainable fundraising organization addresses and evolves with the Residence’s needs and through best practices, contributes to the success of the Residence’s financial sustainability.

To fulfil this critical role, the Foundation operates a full-service, comprehensive fundraising program led by its Fundraising & Communications Team, with the precious collaboration of numerous volunteers. The team works with individuals, philanthropic foundations, organizations, associations and volunteers to raise the required funds annually through major gifts, events, direct mail campaigns, planned giving and in memoriam donations.
Our community of donors and supporters truly make an impact on everything we do at the Residence. Because of their incredible and unwavering support, we are able to carry out our mission and focus on the well-being of our patients and families.
