For eight years, the Annual Butterfly Release has been a cherished tradition of remembrance, beauty, and connection in support of the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. Hundreds of families have taken part, honouring the memory of someone they love and raising more than $100,000 in support of compassionate palliative care.
The Butterfly Release has evolved over the years, and going forward, the Digital Butterfly Certificate will continue this tradition. This year, we invite you once again to take part.
With a gift of $40, a personalized certificate will be created in memory of someone you love and emailed to you.
You are welcome to honour more than one person, each butterfly a gentle tribute, a moment of remembrance carried forward with love.

This year’s Butterfly Release is dedicated to the memory of Pat Empsall.
This tradition exists because of the heart and dedication of one extraordinary volunteer. Pat created and lovingly led the Butterfly Release from 2018 to 2024. Her presence was felt everywhere at the Residence, in the garden, at reception, and in the quiet moments of comfort she offered to so many families. Following her death earlier this year, the in-person Butterfly Release has come to an end. But the tradition Pat built lives on through every certificate requested, every name remembered, every family that takes part.
