Over $2M Net Raised Since Its Inception
KIRKLAND, Quebec – September 21, 2026 – More than 800 participants of all ages gathered at Valois Park in Pointe-Claire for the 10th edition of the Course pour la Compassion, powered by Pfizer Canada in support of the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.
Over the past decade, the event has grown into a cherished community tradition, bringing together families, friends, volunteers, and local businesses in support of compassionate end-of-life care. Its success has also inspired annual partner events at the Cambridge and Maxwell senior residences which continue to make meaningful contributions to the Residence’s mission.
Walkers and runners completed either a 1K or 5K course and raised funds through personal fundraising pages. Together, they demonstrated the power of community to make a meaningful difference for patients and families in need.
"What began ten years ago as a community coming together in support of compassionate care has grown into a remarkable movement," said Dale Weil, Executive Director of the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. "The generosity and commitment of our participants, volunteers, sponsors, and donors continue to strengthen our ability to provide compassionate care to patients and their families."
The event was hosted by Maya Johnson, Anchor of CTV News at 5, and featured event Ambassadors, Émilie Fournel, a three-time Olympian in Sprint Kayak, and Ken Connors, CJAD radio personality.
This year’s final event tally came in at $370,500 net, bringing the cumulative total raised since its inception to over $2 million.
The Residence extends its sincere thanks to its presenting sponsor, Pfizer Canada, as well as the City of Pointe-Claire, Future Electronics, Simard Transport, Uniprix Sainte-Anne and Lachine, and the many sponsors, volunteers, and participants whose support made this milestone event a success.
About the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence
The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence is an independent, non-profit organization that provides services free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Each year, the Residence must raise more than $5 million through community support and fundraising to complement its government subsidy. With 23 beds, it is the largest free-standing palliative care facility in Canada and is recognized as a leader in the field.
