Growing Bigger and Brighter: The 9th Annual Course pour la Compassion raises $390 000 net

KIRKLAND, Quebec – September 20, 2025 – Year after year, the Course pour la Compassion continues to grow into a cherished community tradition. On Saturday, September 20th, over 750 walkers and runners of all ages gathered in Pointe-Claire’s Valois Park for the 9th edition of this heart-warming event powered by Pfizer, benefiting the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.

Since its debut, the Course has become more than a fundraiser—it is a true annual gathering of compassion. Its success has inspired others to create their own fundraising initiatives, including well-established events at the Cambridge and Maxwell senior residences, each raising significant funds to support the cause. Participants of all ages and abilities completed either a 1K or 5K walk/run and created personal crowdfunding pages to raise funds for the Residence. “This event has become a cornerstone of our community,” said Dale Weil, Executive Director of the Residence. “Seeing neighbours, families, sponsors, and volunteers unite every September reminds us that compassionate care is a shared responsibility, and together we are making a lasting difference.”

The event was graciously hosted by Christine Long, CTV News Montreal video journalist, and featured an energizing warm-up, inspiring special guests, and recognition of top fundraisers. Among the VIP guests were Jacqueline Simoneau, three-time Olympic artistic swimmer and 2024 World Aquatic Championship gold medalist; David Arsenault, former national taekwondo champion and founder of Champions pour la Vie, Champions for Life; and Steve O’Brien, former national track-and-field athlete and Champion for Life ambassador.

This year’s edition raised a record $390,000 net, bringing the cumulative total to more than $1,3 million since the event’s inception.

Major sponsors of the event include presenting sponsor Pfizer Canada, the City of Pointe-Claire, Simard Transport, Groupe Brissette, and Uniprix Sainte-Anne and Lachine, with many other generous partners adding their support.
