KIRKLAND, Québec, November 7th, 2025 – The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence is proud to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Teresa Dellar Award in Nursing, created in 2020 in partnership with McGill University and Université de Montréal to honour the memory and legacy of the Residence’s late co-founder, Teresa Dellar, M.S.C., MSW, PSW, FT.

Over the past five years, this award has provided crucial support to nursing students who demonstrate academic excellence and an interest in palliative care. Some recipients have gone on to contribute to research, education, and clinical practice that impacts end of life care.
Earlier this fall, the Residence had the pleasure of welcoming recipients from both universities for a special visit and celebration. The event was an opportunity for meaningful exchanges between students, clinicians, nursing faculty leaders, and leadership from the Residence. The recipients shared their inspiring master’s and doctoral research projects, each one reflecting innovation, compassion, and a dedication to strengthening nursing science.
“This scholarship is a living tribute to Teresa’s belief in the power of education and her deep respect for the nursing profession,” said Dale Weil, Executive Director of the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. “Meeting these young women and hearing about their ambitions to improve patientcare and contribute to research reminds us that Teresa’s legacy continues to inspire a new generation of leaders in nursing.”
Since its inception, the award has been a meaningful bridge between clinical excellence and learning. The ongoing partnership with McGill and Université de Montréal ensures that Teresa’s legacy will continue to shape the evolution of nursing in Quebec and beyond.
